Hump Night Movie – Oct. 21 – “For the Bible Tells Me So”

We will have our second Hump Night Movie event this Wednesday. We’ll be showing ”For the Bible Tells Me So,” a documentary about how some Christian families have dealt with their queer children coming out.

Co-Producer Helen Mendoza is expected to attend the screening and participate in the discussion. This is a wonderful opportunity for our organization and the campus to not only see the film, but communicate with one of the filmmakers to learn about the experiences behind the scenes.

Kicking off our Hump Night Movies with I LOVE YOU, MAN. We’ll have a damn good time and then have a bit of an intellectual discussion about the story and representations of men, women, gay men, masculinity, etc.

Jacuzziiiii

The Jacuzzi meeting was wondrous. Here’s a quick group photo of a few of the people who stopped by for a dip and some conversation.

Tues’ Jacuzzi Meeting

The potluck was quite awesome. Our first gathering off-campus has brought us closer together than ever. Maybe even a little too close. haha.

In other news, because of Flex Day, we will be having an unofficial JACUZZI meeting off-campus Tues 12noon-6p at Monsieur President’s abode in Highland Park.

Potluck & Adopt-A-Beach

Mark your calendars! Saturday, Sept 26 is the URA potluck. We will be deciding on a place during next meeting to be most accomodating!

The flyers for Adopt-A-Beach are in our fellow PCC club mailboxes. MEChA, PCC’s Chicanos/as group has already signed aboard, meaning we have enough members to start the paperwork!!! We need to decide a beach ASAP, so let us know what is most convenient for you!

WOOOT!

Our first meeting was beautiful. We had short intros around the circle of pure awesomeness and some free pizza. Welcome home to your new family!

Next meeting, we’ll have some handmade goodies for everyone and discuss some plans for the future — including adopting a beach for beach clean-up with fellow PCC clubs.

Which is really just an excuse to mingle, have beach parties and let Scotch make everyone be a treehugging hippie like he is.

RUSH!

Club Rush = MIND EXPLOSION. We had over 150 sign ups! The most we’ve ever had!

We had literature out and music playing either by or about LGBTQ people or our cause. From the well-known (Edmund White, Queen) to the more obscure (Luke Sutterland, Atlas Sound), LGBTQ culture is broader than you might have thought! We’re EVERYWHERE! haha.

The team is hard at work inputting all y’all into our email list. Keep a lookout and see you soon! Remember, our first meeting is this Tuesday 12noon in U280.

Club Rush – Day 2

What a day! We are on a roll, as expected. Day 2 of Club Rush, we had our table (in the shade. You know we’re delicate!) and got a huge number of signups! It was awesome to be there (for the short time that I was) and meet so many beautiful new rainbows with the fire and passion that has kept the URA strong. Photos are soon to come. We will continue to man (and woman, and trans) the tables from 8am to 2pm in the  PCC quad through Friday, Sept. 11.

And get geared up and ready for our first meeting, Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Noon in the U-Bldg., Room 280.
